Indiana Wesleyan University, Indiana Business College and CHT Academy are some of the local educational institutions of higher education. The Delaware County Airport provides regular air transportation. This event attracts people from across the United States and Canada. The annual "Mississinewa 1812" festival is a unique local event in which the residents of Grant County reenact the Battle of Mississinewa, that was fought in 1812 near this area. Marion developed rapidly and was declared the county seat of Grant County after its creation in 1831. It was named after General Francis Marion of South Carolina, who fought in the Revolutionary War. The land was located on the left bank of the Mississinewa River. Moore School walked out of class in protest twice this week after videos surfaced on social media showing a Moore school teacher fighting with a student. ![]() ![]() In 1831, David Branson and Martin Boots donated thirty acres of land each towards the creation of Marion. Marion, Indiana, in Grant county, is 29 miles NW of Muncie, Indiana and 60 miles NE of Indianapolis, Indiana.
